S27 - Entering top 3

Written by Jonas Pro Cycling at 18:39 15/3-2014

The season at Jonas Pro Cycling have exceeded all expectations. The overall season goal top3 was reached in close infight with Sprint4live at the very last race. But the points scored to get there was over all expectation. Crossing the 4000 point boarder with 586 points was more than we ever dreamed of. We haven't been as present in the classics as we could wish, but we have been competing for the jerseys in the tours which has been the priority.

We have said goodbye to some remarkably profiles during the season. Best known is Martin Østrup upon whom the sole foundation of Jonas Pro Cycling is build. He was the one who took us up through the divisions and he has been a steady scorer in many seasons for us in the topdivision. Scoring 8618 points, making 50 podiums and winning 929k is surely the definition of buck for value. His last big result was a 2nd in SC in this edition of GT. Also Edward Van Baerlem, the big surprice of the year has left for Scilian and Servero Vivas, former Scilian rider, has left for THE DUTCHIES.

Our teamscore has been contributed to by no less than 14 riders, scoring in four different disciplines - sprinting, hilling, cobbling and timetrial.

  The Squad and the future

We have significantly strenghtened our hill outfit by buying the worldclass hiller Evan Tomkins From Calfornia Mist. Even with his age taken into consideration, he is still top 5 hillsprinter in the top division. We expect to make an impact on the hill calendar, where it has been up to the remarkably overperforming Lewis Kane to bring home hill points, we now have a rider that can compete in a broader range of races.

Besides Tomkins we have purchased the top cobbler Sigurd Guldhammer and sprinter Perry Wuets from Venetiane, and two competative timetrialers in Luuk Roewen from THE DUTCHIES and Pascual Hoero from Stil Ostil. In particular Hoero has shown great potential for our coming TT campain, by riding two top 9 home in his first two races. The last being a 7th spot in thw ITT WC.

With the purchase of Tomkins a blueprint for the team has emerged. A team that for many seasons have consisted of two sprinting captains with different core competences and a pair of time trialers. Now accompanied by a worldclass hiller, a top cobble captain and a handful of competative timetrialers. This is the DNA of Jonas Pro Cycling for the next seasons to come. This is the blueprint for the team that will solely focus on bringing the team to the top of the rank. Once consolidated at the top, we will look into expanding into a team that can compete for GC in the big tours. A wishful guess will be a podium in either Los Castillos or Germany in season 34 using season 33 to gain GC experience.

But the competition is hard and we are not at all expecting it to be easy to archieve our goals. Tirilla is developing a very strong combination of riders, being able to score way more than us in both cobbling and sprinting races whilet least matching us in the hills. Drapeau with his fierce young team. Sprint4live with a rebuild team. NECFTW with the best combined climbing hilling outfit in the game. Matrix and Nairobi with the best time trialers in the game. Peddelen the master of rotating riders and using TF. All the new young promising teams coming up. It won't be easy but we set the bar high here at Jonas Pro Cycling.

  ***

  Next seasons goals:

With the agening of our team and less topforms we do not believe we can score higher next season than this one. But with the arrival of Tomkins and and Hoero in end season we do believe we can keep our level.

  Team goals:
  Top3 / 4500 points / 450k

  Sprintoutfit - Hitchens and Wuets:
  190 pts / 190k

Timetrialers - Roewens, Hoero, Rictor, Dadakos, Sanz and Kane:
  100 pts / 100k

  Hillers - Tomkins and Kane:
  Podium in Essex
  800 pts / 80k

  Cobblers - Guldhammer and Enrique:
  Podium in Twedaagse
  800 pts / 80k

We will not have personal rider goals anymore but focus on the different branches. As long as we don't have a top contender for the rider rank at least.

  ***

  Long term goals:

  S28 top3 or reach 4500 pts
  S29 top2 or reach 4800 pts
  s30 top1 or reach 5000 pts

We wish you a good season.

Thanks, actually he didn't earn 879k in his career, I forgot to caount season 27 so he earbed 929k, a shame he never rounded the one mil. ;) Good luck to you too, going to be interesting to see how the outcome of the new engine will be.

Team Tirilla at 20:17 16/3-2014
Congratulations on a fantastic season! I'm surprised that Østrup actually earned 879k through his entire career - impressive! Good luck in season 28 with a new race engine, very exciting.
